Woman fatally hit by truck while trying to catch bus in North Portland

A 23-year-old woman was hit by a pickup and killed this evening in North Portland.
The Portland Police Bureau said the woman, whose identity was not disclosed, apparently was trying to catch a bus about 5:25 p.m.
Witnesses said she stepped off the curb and into the path of the pickup at North Lombard Street and Rivergate Boulevard. She died at the scene.
Cory Woelke, 44, was driving the pickup. He remained at the scene and cooperated in the investigation, police said.
Police said neither speed nor impairment appeared to be a factor in the crash. The investigation was continuing.
